Microwave‐assisted foaming of polystyrene filled with carbon black; effect of filler content on foamability

In this work, polystyrene was filled with carbon black (CB) at 1, 3, and 5 wt% were foamed via microwave-assisted (MA) foaming. The composite morphology tracked by scanning electron microscopy, transmission rheology. CB played the dominant role as selective microwave absorbers to provide required heat for cell nucleation growth. MA foaming is a controllable technique reach proper foam density size controlling energy. foams microstructurally compared created conventional procedures, including oil bath heating fast pressure drop. One advantage of method increasing temperature bulk surface thick specimen simultaneously. As result, growth are uniform throughout composite. Samples thickness 1 cm method.
